New environmental policy book to be released Tuesday in Louisville

The Center for a Better South will unveil a new book of environmental ideas for Kentucky and Southern policymakers during a 10 a.m. Tuesday press conference at the University of Louisville.  The book, Getting Greener:  Progressive Environmental Ideas for the American South, outlines 15 environmental policy recommendations for state and local leaders and suggests a dozen ways consumers can get greener today without any action by governments.  One of the highlights of the book is a focus on the importance of green building.  The conference will showcase a green building at the University of Louisville.  Also Tuesday, the Center will unveil a new Web site where people can download all of the information in the book for free.

 

Participating in the conference will be S.C. Sen. Phil Leventis of Sumter, S.C., and Andy Brack, president of the Center.  Leventis ( www.leventisforsenate.com) is recognized as one of South Carolina’s environmental leaders.  Brack, a communications strategist, has served on national and state conservation boards.
